incognito® and Sustainability
We are in the 0.01% of the UK's greenest companies. incognito® insect repellent has won 2 Queen's Awards in the prestigious Sustainable Development Category, the hardest one to win, mainly for our carbon capture & impeccable ESG principles - we recycle or reuse everything we possibly can. We switched all our natural biocide's packaging to renewable source sugarcane plastic back in 2010
All our main lines are compatible with this form of packaging. We use biodegradable natural ingredients that do not pollute the planet and our sugarcane material is kerbside recyclable in most households.
We are 2 times winners of Queen’s Awards for Excellence - sustainable development – the only Insect repellent brand to ever win.
Obviously all of this comes at a cost and the end result is that it costs so much to manufacture than synthetic, less natural brands and we have much smaller margins. But we are passionate about what we do and remain committed as there is a continuous and increasing shift in consciousness towards protecting the planet, cutting carbon footprints with CO2 reduction.
incognito® has displaced or avoided approximately 250k litres of DEET entering and polluting the environment since we began trading in 2007. The amount of CO2 saved & sequestered from the air through photosynthesis of our sugarcane plastic is 91,498 metric tonnes or according to the EPA: 101,131,229 pounds of coal burned or 229,952,579 or Miles driven by an average passenger vehicle!
When you conflate this with the 4.27 tonnes saved through offsetting, carbon saving projects in & tree planting in the underdeveloped world it totals even more. Many people are aware we offer the ‘greenest’ environmentally friendly mosquito repellents in the world, and more importantly for purchase, 100% protection from mosquitoes and other biting/stinging insects (no synthetic repellents does: scientific study published in peer-review journal available on request.)
